Shrapnel Hits

Faster than your OODA Loop - the ISAA: Information, Sort by Priority, Act, Assess.

"We play the same game of risk-reward analysis, only your stakes are much higher. We both confront chaotic information...and act quickly."...."The traders stressed that it was experience which enabled them to view multiple streams of data and discriminate between the important and the trivial"

ISAA provides a guideline for two functions. The first is setting priorities, which traders call 'sorting the order deck.' The decisionmaking in a fire support center often consists of filling orders for maneuvers, logistics or fires in the next 12 to 24 hours. Similarly, traders often are filling orders from clients to buy or sell at a certain price.

A second function is assessing feedback and adjusting the battle. A trader calls this speculating, or 'testing the market.' He will take a series of small positions; if the market does not react as he anticipates, he will test the other side. Capital is risked on an assessment of the market. Similarly, the multitude of fire missions will lead to constant assessments at the COC--whether to keep away from the action or increase the fires requested.

Another way out:
"Toulmin has argued that absolutism (represented by theoretical or analytic arguments) has limited practical value. Absolutism is derived from Plato's idealized formal logic, which advocates universal truth; thus absolutists believe that moral issues can be resolved by adhering to a standard set of moral principles, regardless of context. By contrast, Toulmin asserts that many of these so-called standard principles are irrelevant to real situations encountered by human beings in daily life." - An Alternative to Absolutism and Relatvisim.

Programming Note

Howdy, all. Seems it is about time to give the State of the Show statement... BAH! That's boring!! How about pictures of kitties? No, no, that is not allowed.

So as I meander through some more scholarly activities during this Fall Quarter, transmissions will be intermittent - at least those that broadcast over the radio spectrum. The Thermonuclear Bar blog will be offering a once a week post where I note the always interesting things I think listeners of the show will enjoy. I won't share much more than that. Stay tuned true believers.

Last Show of Summer Season! 9/5/12 Tracklist

I admit. I went out of my mind today and well...yeah. How could you go wrong when playing tracks by groups called Joyless Masturbation or Love Child's Afro Cuban Blues?

If you want the full Chris Knowles' tour-de-force on what became of MK ULTRA - and how the real decline of amerikkka kicked off in 1971- go here.

Otherwise here's today's track listing.

ThermoNuclear Bar Interview with Dakota Crane!

Yes, yes, here's what you've been waiting to filling your earballs with! Sit down and listen to Psychic Machinist Dakota Crane and the Rev. talk about parafiction, comics, the true Yeti and psychic machinery!

Here's the complete Track List for the rest of the show

ThermoNuclearBar Track List 8/22/2012 - A Superpositional Morning

In a homage to Bay Area college radio legend, CyThoth of the mighty 89.7FM KFJC, this show started out with a 20 minute SUPERPOSITION track (ie, several tracks playing at once) based on David B. Metcalfe's "Lumen Siccum" which then devolved into the Laverne & Shirley theme song, then back to Metcalfe then some children's record on social skills, back to Metcalfe then onto the Good Times theme song (hell yes), back to Metcalfe then Sinatra's 'It was a very good year', back to Metcalfe then three tracks from the newly released Plutocracy/Immortal Fate 12" from the classic KZSU Wednesday Night Live Performance, back to Metcalfe and a bit of Russell Targ on his Remote Viewing experience finding Patty Hearst's kidnappers...then relaxation.

Here's the Track List.

How's that for a nice way to wake up in the morning? Watch this space for download of this live experiment.

Soundtrack Special 8/15/12 w. Goatskroat & Regurgitated Giblets

Interview with Clint Marsh of Wonderella.org - UPDATED!

Clint Marsh is a fascinating human who has politely agreed to etherically stop by the ThermoNuclear Bar offices on Wednesday 8/8 to talk about some of his new books; The Secret Doctrines of the Rosicrucians and Goblin Proofing Your Chicken Coop, and other topics like underground publishing, esoteric training, etc!

So, put down the croquet mallet, brew some strong tea and enjoy our chat!

From the Wonderella website:

The Rosicrucians are a truly “secret society” whose philosophy has come to light at different points in history. In the 1600s they issued a set of manifestos calling for an enlightened revolution that would reshape society into a more democratic ideal. Even the American Founding Fathers were influenced by these manifestos.

Writing as Magus Incognito in 1915, William Walker Atkinson introduced a new generation of readers to the Rosicrucian ideals, as well as to a myriad of connections between occult concepts as varied as alchemy, reincarnation, the astral plane, auras, Eastern and Western mysticism, and the “evolution of mankind” among seven esoteric versions of planets in our solar system.
